Mars Game Audio

‘Mars’ is a short, student-made game set on the game’s namesake planet Mars. The gameplay includes exploration of the game world and combat with different types of robotic enemies, utilising futuristic weaponry with laser blasters, advanced shotguns and disk launchers. My part in this project is the game’s audio. This includes recording, editing and sound design of sound effects, composing dynamic music and implementation of these into the game.

My main artistic focus for this project was to provide life and some semblance of story to this game sonically. I want to answer questions the player may ask about the game world through sonic clues based off of my own interpretation of the visuals while also ensuring the sound fits well within the world. This brings the entire game together as a consistent world and narrative.

The concepts within this project include Wwise implementation and dynamic music composition, which fit into context of my broader project area of ‘Game Audio and Effects with Audio Middleware’.
